Faucheux Steps Down as C&E Editor-in-Chief
Press Release, July 21, 2003

(WASHINGTON, DC)-----Campaigns & Elections magazine, a nonpartisan monthly trade publication for the political campaign industry, announced that Ron Faucheux is stepping down as editor-in-chief. Faucheux, however, will continue to write for the magazine and to speak at its seminars as Contributor-at-Large.

Political consultant Dale Emmons is among the long list of prominent political professionals who are frequent presenter at Campaign & Elections seminars. Emmons, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Political Consultants says the publication will miss Faucheux's leadership.

"Ron is a realist and a real pro. He has the needed mix of political scientist and real world hands-on experience for a winning recipe. The magazine will miss his steady guidance and day to day leadership", Emmons stated.

"Campaigns & Elections has been a great experience. But after more than 10 years working full-time on the magazine, I'm ready for new challenges," said Faucheux, a former legislator and political consultant from Louisiana.

"This new arrangement gives me an opportunity to pursue new career plans while continuing to have a print forum for writing, political analysis and book publishing," he said.

Speaking on behalf of the magazine's ownership and staff, Votenet spokesperson and Chief Operating Officer Michael Tuteur said, "Ron Faucheux's superb efforts and innovative leadership infused new life into Campaigns & Elections and turned it into a publication of importance, credibility and respect."

"The magazine's readers and the entire political community are truly fortunate to have had the benefit of Ron's steadfast integrity and professionalism. We are also fortunate that he will continue to make
significant contributions to this magazine in the future – including his award-winning column and his extraordinarily accurate elections handicapping service, The Political Oddsmaker – in his new position as Contributor-at-Large," he continued.

"For the many citizens, candidates, consultants, managers, elected officials, volunteers, committee directors, issue advocates, teachers and students he has inspired and assisted throughout his distinguished career, we thank Ron on behalf of all of us," said Tuteur.

Faucheux purchased Campaigns & Elections in 1993 and served as its publisher until 1998 when he sold it to Congressional Quarterly. In December of 2001, the magazine was acquired by Washington, D.C.-based Votenet Solutions, Inc., a firm primarily engaged in software development and Web marketing.

Faucheux, a lawyer with a Ph.D. in political science, teaches at The Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University and is the author of "Running for Office," published by M. Evans and Company in New York, and editor of a forthcoming book on campaigns, "Winning Elections."

In recent years, he directed several landmark survey research projects on political candidates and debates for The Pew Charitable Trusts and the University of Maryland's Center for American Politics and Citizenship.

David Mark, who has served as managing editor of Campaigns & Elections for over a year and is a former Capitol Hill reporter at Congressional Quarterly, will continue in his position and will assume many of Faucheux's duties.
